W E L C O M E !

Hello and Welcome to Spring terms Math 60-10,

Algebra I  Online

I am Kurt Lewandowski and I will be your instructor. You can call me at 503-594-3329, or email me at

Be sure to do the following items in order:

1)  Log In to your Clackamas Moodle account.  Once you have logged in you will see Math 60-10.  You will be starting here every week to read weekly announcements and to check your overall grade.

2)  Next, Be sure to read the Course Syllabus and Calendar carefully!  This includes a calendar to establish a minimum pace in order to complete the course by June 10th.  You will have homework and Discussion Board postings due every Monday Night!

3)  Create your MathZone account.  Instructional Videos, examples, and all of the required homework will be done in a great web-based program called Math Zone.  You will find it to be very helpful in learning the material, along with reading the textbook.  I suggest that you take a quick tour and click the “Product Tour!” button.

You have the option of purchasing a new textbook bundled with the Math Zone student access code from the bookstore, or purchase a Math Zone access code online during the initial registration process and make use of the online ebook (exactly the same book and available to all students within the program as a PDF). Simply click HERE, and follow the instructions for registering as a student; Enter the Course Code (ABD-96-9B8); Then follow the instructions for “Do not have an access code”.

4)  Make your first Moodle Forum posting.  Besides Homework and Tests, you will be required to make two postings per week within the Moodle Forum board.  You can respond to another classmates posting, or start a new thread with a question or observation of your own.  Postings must be made by Midnight Monday of each week.  You will also be able to monitor your grade under the “My Grades” link within the CCC Moodle homepage.

Like all other classes, you can’t expect to be successful unless you plan on setting aside specific time each week to work on the material.  I strongly suggest that you work well ahead of schedule right away while the material is partly review.  Be sure to contact me right away if you have any questions, would like to meet.  You can certainly come into see me so that I can work with you one-on-one.  The Math Zone program also has a helpful feature that allows you to contact me by email directly at any time.  I will do my best to respond within 24 hours.
