What is a Math Department Intern?
A Math Department Intern is a student who will assist the Math Department in a variety of duties that will be arranged by the department chair, the department, and the student, based on department need and student interest. Some of these duties may include (but are not limited to) helping with the annual Skills Contest, grading, developing course materials, helping in math classes with group activities, helping with office duties, working at the Streeter Hall Information Desk, gathering data, conducting calculator workshops, and organizing technology.
What does the Tuition Waiver cover?
The tuition waiver covers tuition only for up to 18 credits for each of the three terms (fall, winter, and spring) of the 2012/2013 Academic Year. The tuition waiver does not cover any type of fees or charges for classes (other than tuition). Even after receiving the math department internship tuition waiver, a student may still be eligible for other financial aid (check with the Financial Aid Office). Each intern will meet with Kathy Chelminiak, a math instructor, before the end of the second week of each term to process and send the tuition waiver request to the Financial Aid Office. .
