Applications are due by Friday, May 21 and can be turned in to Becky Torres (Streeter 101) or the front desk in the Math Lab (Streeter 137).

What is a Math Department Intern?
A Math Department Intern is a student who will assist the Math Department in a variety of tasks that will be arranged by the department chair, the department, and the student, based on department need and student interest.  Some of these tasks may include (but are not limited to) helping with the annual skills contest, grading, developing course materials, helping in math classes with group activities, gathering data, conducting calculator workshops, and organizing technology.

How many Math Department Internship positions are available?
There are openings for two Math Department Internships for the 2010/2011 academic year. 

What are the requirements to be a Math Department Intern?
1. Be a currently registered student at CCC Attend CCC for the entire 2010/2011 Academic Year
2. Have passed (or be currently passing) a college level math course (at least Mth 105 or Mth 111) with a B or better
3. Have a desire to work with the members of the Math Department

What does the Tuition Waiver cover?
The tuition waiver covers tuition only for up to 18 credits for each of the three terms (fall, winter, and spring) of the 2010/2011 Academic Year.  The tuition waiver does not cover any type of fees or charges for classes (other than tuition). Even after receiving the math department internship tuition waiver, a student may still be eligible for other financial aid (check with the Financial Aid Office). Each intern will complete a “Tuition Waiver Acceptance Contract” before the end of the second week of each term and submit this to the Financial Aid Office.  The contract can be obtained from Kathy Chelminiak in the Math Department.

How do I apply?

When will the Math Internship positions be announced?
The Math Interns for the 2010/2011 year will be announced by Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
